What can we say? We love Sandy! She is our first member and a long-time CrossFit friend who has been workout partners with CFE’s owner Lori, Erin and Ellen (aka the Buttercups) for many, many years. Thanks to CrossFit, this pep squad is very busy encouraging, welcoming and cheering on every athlete at CFE. Sandy sets her goals and meets them very consistently – she even surpassed a few this month when she beat her own personal record for push press AND clean and jerks. Not only was she surprised but the room erupted with cheers (and there were some tears of joy too).

Q: How long have you been doing CrossFit?
A: 5 Years
Q: Describe your biggest milestone, achievement, or “A-Ha” moment.
A: Doing a power clean I never understood “fast arms”. Once I achieved this movement I was like Ah….it makes this lift easier!
Q: What is your favorite CrossFit workout?
A: Power cleans
Q: What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear these words?
WOD: Workout
FRAN: Oh God
BURPEE: Hate
STRENGTH: Power lift
LOVE: Family
Q: How has CrossFit enriched your life outside the gym?
A: I am more confident in my career. I feel as though if you can complete a WOD you can achieve anything in life. I have started skiing (which I thought I could NEVER do) and golfing.
Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: Don’t rely on anyone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen.
Q: One interesting fact about yourself not related to CrossFit
A: I ride a Harley
Q: Do you have any advice for people just getting started or new to CrossFit?
A: Starting anything new can be daunting especially crossfit. Once you are ready to start your workout journey you will come to realize it is about you and your journey with the help of coaches and the community around you. You will be a part of something. A part of a new family. You will gain confidence to achieve your goals and make gains!
