Master’s athlete Mark joined CFE in 2015 and hasn’t looked back. The toughest part was walking in the door but he was ready to make a change – and WOW has he! Mark is one of our core “nooners” and is the life of the party. Not a day goes by that he isn’t challenged and pushes himself to complete the workout. Most days, there is a friendly competition going on at our noon classes. You can tell how serious it is based on the single or double headband Mark is wearing. Gallons and gallons of sweat later, he’s lifting more weight than he ever thought the could and is even wearing jeans (size: high school). Go, Mark!

Q: Describe your biggest milestone, achievement, or “A-Ha” moment.

A: My biggest achievement was the day I actually finished a workout doing all the movements properly.  I thought “Holy Sh$t…. I can really do this if I stick with it!”

Q: What is your favorite CrossFit workout?

A: My favorite workout is anything that makes me collapse in total exhaustion and causes my shirt to be drenched.

Q: What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear these words?

WOD: Anticipate

FRAN: Underestimate

BURPEE: Quicker

STRENGTH: Lacking

LOVE: Devotion

Q: How has CrossFit enriched your life outside the gym?

A: There is not enough room here to describe it all—More energy at night, lost multiple inches off my waist, have better focus at work (both jobs), able to perform simple tasks with ease (like not huffing and puffing after walking up a flight of stairs), increased confidence, better posture and much, much more.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: What you GET by achieving your goal is not as important as what you BECOME by achieving your goal.  Such as obtaining a black belt or winning the CrossFit Regionals.

Q: Do you have any advice for people just getting started or new to CrossFit?

A: Yes, sign up for personal training sessions as soon as possible.  They will pay off TEN fold.  Your trainer can focus on YOU and how to make you better at Crossfit (which is different from person to person.)

A: CrossFit is a part of my life now.  My only regret is not joining CF Exclamation sooner!
