New Year, Strong Start: Your Pre-Resolutions Health Checklist
Before the wave of New Year’s resolutions hits, give yourself a head start by setting up a healthy foundation. Invest a little time now so you can hit the ground running in January.
1. Lock in Your Appointments
Schedule your annual physical and dental check-up before January. Starting the year with a clean bill of health (and clean teeth!) gives you clarity and peace of mind.
2. Stock Your Kitchen for Success
Fill your pantry and fridge with real, nourishing food — not processed junk. Load up on vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy snacks. When healthy choices are easy, you’re more likely to stick to them.
3. Commit to Movement
Stop thinking about it—get that gym membership, fitness class package, or at-home workout setup. Even better, book a trial session or tour this month so you’re ready to go on day one.
4. Prioritize Restorative Sleep
Set a non-negotiable goal of 8 hours of sleep per night. Start by adjusting your bedtime routine now—dim the lights, reduce screen time before bed, and create a calming wind-down ritual.
5. Hydrate with Purpose
Drink more water. Consider getting a reusable bottle you love, or set hourly reminders if needed. Proper hydration boosts energy, focus, and metabolism.
6. Tune Up Your Mind
Mental health is part of the foundation. Try a short daily meditation, journaling, or simply scheduling regular breaks for yourself. Consider downloading a mindfulness app to guide you.
7. Prep Your Environment
Declutter your living space, organize your workout gear, and set up a dedicated restful sleep space. Your surroundings can significantly influence your habits.
8. Set Kind, Clear Intentions
Instead of vague resolutions, think of one or two specific, realistic health goals—like “walk 30 minutes a day” or “cook at home 4 nights a week.” Write them down and post them where you’ll see them daily.
By taking these steps now, you won’t be starting a health journey in January—you’ll already be living it.
Future you will thank you.
